MANILA, Philippines – One of the largest telco players in the Philippines, PLDT Inc., launched its SmartBus transport solutions to public.

SmartBus aims to provide enhancement in the urban bus transport system of the country. Security and convenience of commuters are to be improved by the system as claimed.

PLDT Vice President and PLDT SME Nation Head, Mitch Locsin, stated that SmartBus will address day-to-day issues encountered in public buses.

The transportation project of PLDT works in line with the government’s plan of overhauling public bus transportation. SmartBus digital solutions will feature on-board security surveillance using Smart Cam, improved transport units tracking with Smart Fleet, buses WiFi connectivity through Smart Biz LTE, and Smart e-Ticketing System for sales monitoring at real-time.

Smart Cam aims to provide bus operators monitor situations inside the buses for extra security. When installed near the fuel source, its avoid gas pilifrege.

Smart Fleet promotes more effective maintenance, driver data monitoring, and reports generation for bus companies.

Smart Biz LTE offers non-stop LTE speeds, which can connect up t o 45 devices for P1,899 monthly.

Smart e-Ticketing System features sales tracking and admissions monitoring for bus owners.

PLDT SME Nation provides bus operators to avail any of the features or the whole set. On a monthly basis, acquisition of five features will amount to P3,500 each bus.

UBE Express, Victory Line, ES Transport, Genesis, and Green Frog Hybrid Bus Co. have availed some of SmartBus solutions.

PLDT targets 33,000 buses nationwide.
