Philippine Stock Exchange: Wrap-Up Report – January 10, 2017

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) sustained its rally for the sixth consecutive day. The index closed at 7,364.34, 88 points higher or 1.21 percent.

All sectors were higher for the day. The service sector continued to outperform other sectors rising by 2.12 percent. The telco industry remained strong as TEL closed at 1590, higher by 3.52 percent, while GLO closed at 1,826, higher by 2.01 percent. ICT and RRHI also did well, rising by 1.68 percent and 2.26 percent, respectively.

Property sector also did well rising by 1.74 percent. SMPH made a new all-time high at P31.50 before finally settling at P31.30, still higher by 2.29 percent. ALI was also up by 1.33 percent. MEG nearly touched P4 today but settled at P3.92-apiece, up by 4.53 percent. RLC, VLL and HOUSE, also rose by 1.48 percent, 0.59 percent and 1.04 percent, respectively.

Mining companies also performed well, rising by 1.61 percent. Within the sector, SCC rose by 1.96 percent, PX by 1.76 percent, LC by 2.79 percent, MA by 8.33 percent, and AT by 2.90 percent.

The most heavily traded stock for today is SMPH, with P841.5 million followed by GLO at P598 million, TEL by P432 million and MPI by P422 million.

Notable gainers with volume include MG up by 10.89 percent and APX by 7.77 percent.

Losers volume include PA, down by 10 percent as traders lock profits from yesterday’s rally. AR was also down by 5.56 percent, MED by 4.23 percent, RLT by 3.61 percent, MRSGI by 3.46 percent and ABA by 3.37 percent.

Total value traded for today amounted to P8.95 billion. Foreigners bought P4.02 billion of Philippine equities and sold P3.84 billion resulting to a net foreign buying of P180.34 million.

On a 30-day trading period,  is on a Net Foreign Selling worth PHP10,346,679,000.00.
