Philippine Stock Exchange: Wrap-Up Report – January 19, 2017

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) extended its rally as it continued its ascent today. The index closed at 7,246.08, higher by 89.72 points or 1.25 percent.

All sectors were higher today and were led by the Property sector. ALI rallied by a peso to close at 34.90 or 2.95 percent. SMPH was also higher today closing at 30.40, up by 1.67 percent. MEG, despite the foreign selling, was able to move higher to close at 3.69 or 2.22 percent. RLC and BEL were higher by 0.99 percent and 1.88 percent, respectively.

The Industrial sector was the second best-performer rising by 1.67 percent. Within the sector, URC took the lead rising by 3.84 percent. EDC also rose by 3.02 percent, and MER by 1.87 percent. JFC, AP, and PCOR were also higher by 0.99 percent, 1.03 percent, and 1.06 percent, respectively.

The Service sector also did well. ICT closed higher by 4.15 percent. TEL extended its run to close at 1,505, up by 1.01 percent. GLO was able to claw back some of its losses yesterday to close at 1,688 or 1.99 percent. BLOOM continued its aggressive rise to close at 6.85, higher by 1.48 percent.

Top gainers with volume include MED, up by 16.92 percent, FEU by 9.15 percent, PRMX by 6.68 percent, APL by 5.77 percent, SFI by 4.83 percent, and STI by 4.72 percent.

Top losers with volume include ALT, which was down 7.23 percent and IS by 4.11 percent.

Top traded stock today was GTCAP with P465 million in value, followed by ALI with P316 million, BDO with P306.7 million.

Total value turnover today amounted to P5.86 billion. Foreigners bought P2.97 billion worth of Philippine equities and sold P3.35 billion resulting to a Net Foreign Selling of P379.28 million.

On a 30-day trading period, PSEi is on a Net Foreign Selling worth PHP7,776,720,000.00.
